State of Louisiana sues Lobdale Medical Service for alleged Medicare fraud

BATON ROUGE – A local provider of power wheelchairs, orthotics and other medical equipment to Medicare beneficiaries, is being sued by the state over claims of fraud.

The State of Louisiana filed a lawsuit against Lobdale Medical Services, owner Young Okoro Anyanwu and Beatrice Nwugo Anyanwu in the 19th Judicial District Court.

The State claims that due to the defendant’s submission of allegedly fraudulent claims to Blue Cross Blue Shield, the defendant owes the insurer $15,166.12 under the federal healthcare fraud statute.

The defendant is accused of strict liability pursuant to the healthcare fraud statute.

The plaintiff is seeking the sum of $15,166.12 to be properly and promptly remitted to the Blue Cross along with all legal costs. A
