BATON ROUGE – A police officer is suing the city where he used to work for an alleged violation of federal labor law and wrongful termination.
Rodrick Jarreau filed a lawsuit against the City of Baker in the 19th Judicial District Court on Feb. 22. Jarreau claims that he was unlawfully terminated for an alleged violation of Baker Police Department policy regarding leaving his residence to deliver his work duty restriction documentation while on sick leave. The plaintiff alleges that the defendants violated his rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act are liable unto him for damages resulting from his alleged wrongful termination.
The defendant is accused of wrongful, unlawful and retaliatory termination.
The plaintiff is seeking recompense for lost sick leave, lost wages, liquidated damages, attorney's fees and legal costs.
