Scooters Chicken sued by customer who allegedly slipped on wet floor

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing a local fried chicken restaurant for injuries she claims to have received in fall in a puddle caused by a leaky water fountain.

Barbara Brown filed suit against Scooters Chicken Delivery LLC and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 11.

Brown claims she was a visitor at Scooters Chicken restaurant located at 1B Westbank Expressway in Gretna when she slipped in standing liquid and fell to the floor.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant’s water fountain was broken and the area below it had been periodically mopped, but at the time of the incident a large puddle had formed. Brown asserts that she received serious injuries in the fall. Brown asserts that she received serious injuries in the fall.

The defendant is accused of allowing a dangerous condition to exist on the premises, failing to warn patrons the danger, allowing a wet area to remain in the restaurant in an are they to knew to be highly traveled by patrons and failing to maintain property so as to render it safe for patrons.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, permanent disabilities and inconvenience.

Brown is represented by attorney Michelle H. Hesni of Gretna.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
