Rabb

BATON ROUGE – A Baton Rouge woman is suing an elevator company after an elevator they manufactured malfunctioned at a local hotel.

Viola Nolen filed a lawsuit against Schindler Elevator Corp., John Doe, Columbia Properties Baton Rouge Ltd., Columbia Sussex Corp. and their insurers in the East 19th Judicial District Court on Feb. 28.

Nolen avers that the elevator manufactured by the defendant suddenly dropped and became stuck between floors.

The defendant is accused of failing to warn of the unsafe condition, failing to maintain premises in a safe condition and failing to properly repair and maintain the elevators.

An unspecified amount is sought for loss and damages in the form of emotional distress, mental anguish and pain and suffering.

The case will be heard before Division D Judge Janice Clark.

Jeffrey Rabb of Baton Rouge-based Dudley Debosier Injury Lawyers will represent Nolen in court.
