Lloyds of London sued for allegedly not paying insurance property insurance claim from storm

Breach of contract

GRETNA – A Jefferson Parish company is alleging their  insurance agency did not properly evaluate their insurance claim for property damages due to a storm.

Ripps LLC filed suit against Certain Underwriters of Lloyds London in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 17. Ripps claims their business was covered by a property insurance policy underwritten by Lloyds of London when they suffered severe damage to their roof and interior and exterior walls. Although the plaintiff alleges their insurance policy with the defendants was in full effect no payments have been made on their property insurance claim. Ripps asserts Lloyds of London failed to recognize the extent of the property damage and failed to reasonably evaluate the continuing damage caused.

The defendant is accused of bad faith and breach of contract.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for penalties, interest and attorney’s fees.

Ripps is represented by attorney Gerardo O. Salassi IV of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.

Case no. 726-112.
