GRETNA – A man who claims he was injured when he tripped and fell in a hole on a sidewalk is suing the apartment building where it was located.

Dennis Walsh filed suit against Lapalco Court Apartment Partners Ltd., Summit Housing Partners and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 25.

Walsh claims that on July 9, 2012, he was walking on the concrete sidewalks at the Lapalco Apartments located at 2300 Lapalco Blvd. in Harvey when he tripped and fell in a hole. The plaintiff claims the hole in the sidewalk caused an uneven walking surface that the defendants should have known about. Walsh asserts that he was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly maintain the sidewalks, failing to supervise the repair work being performed on the premises, failing to properly warn of the break in the sidewalk, failing to properly light the premises, failing to place barriers around the break in the sidewalk, failing to properly train and supervise employees and failing to provide a safe premises for dangerous conditions.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical treatment, pain, mental anguish, loss of sleep and proper rest and medication.

Walsh is represented by attorney David D. Bravo of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
