GRETNA – A woman who received financing to purchase a car alleges the salesman who structured the deal fraudulently filled out her paperwork and told her he had purchased insurance for the car that did not pay when she later got in an accident.
Jasmine Goudeau filed suit against Ray Brandt Motors LLC, Ray Brandt Toyota, Antonio Lambert, Paul J. Robert Jr. and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 15.
Goudeau claims that on Dec. 17, 2012 she entered into a contract to purchase a car from Ray Brandt Toyota located at 2460 Veterans Blvd. in Kenner, which was brokered by car salesman Lambert. The plaintiff alleges that Lambert purposely filled out the wrong information on her credit application so she would qualify for financing on a 2013 Toyota Corolla. After agreeing to the contract to purchase the vehicle, Goudeau asserts Lambert told her he had paid for the first month of an insurance contract on the car that he purchased from Allstate Property and Casualty Insurance. The plaintiff claims that less than a month after the transaction she was in a car accident and when she submitted an insurance claim, Allstate told her that her claim was denied because insurance was never purchased in her name.
The defendant is accused of negligently selling insurance to customers and negligent hiring practices.
Damages in the amount of $5,304.78 for parts and labor for car repair and car storage fees.
