GRETNA – A Metairie woman is suing her ex-husband who she claims broke her arm during an argument when he tried to remove property from her garage.

Dawn Rauch Norwood filed suit against John J. Norwood IV in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 27.

Dawn claims that John was at her home located at 4709 Argonne St. in Metairie to pick up their son when he told her he needed to retrieve some tools from the property, which she says were in her possession as part of their divorce settlement. The plaintiff alleges she instructed the defendant to not remove any items from her home, but he did not listen to her pleas. The plaintiff claims she fell to the ground due to shock and excruciating pain from the injury, which later required surgery including the implantation of two plates and 12 pins.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical injury, pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, permanent disability, disfigurement, lost earnings, loss of earning capacity and loss of enjoyment of life.

Dawn is represented by Jill R. Menard of the Gretna-based Colvin Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.
