Dollar General sued by woman who fell in puddle in parking lot

GRETNA – A who claims she was injured in a fall in a puddle at a retailer’s parking lot is suing.

Patricia Mays filed suit against Dolgencorp LLC and Dollar General Corporation in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 29.

Mays claims that she was walking near the dumpster at the Dollar General located at 932 Westwood Drive in Marrero when she slipped in a puddle and fell to the pavement. The plaintiff alleges that she received painful and serious injuries in the incident.

The defendant is accused of allowing the liquid to accumulate in the parking lot, failing to inspect the area, failing to clean up the parking lot, failing to warn customers of the defect, failing to safely maintain the area, creating a defective condition, allowing a dangerous condition to exist and failing to properly train employees.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, permanent damage, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses and economic damages.

Mays is represented by attorney Pierre F. Gaudin of Marrero.

The case has been assigned to Division L Judge Donald A. Rowan Jr.
