GRETNA – A New Orleans man is suing a local chiropractor clinic for allegedly causing severe back injuries to him during a massage.
Davanti Bryant filed suit against Hoang Chiropractic Center LLC and an unknown employee in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 17.
Bryant claims that this spring he received a gift certificate to go to Hoang Chiropractic Center where he received a massage without incident. The plaintiff returned for another massage at a later date, but he alleges this time the masseuse manipulated his spine and back without his consent. Bryant asserts that the next day he began to experience severe pain in his lower back and the manipulation of his spine and back had resulted in severe and painful personal injuries.
The defendant is accused of improper massage technique, practicing chiropractic maneuvers without a license, practicing massage therapy beyond the scope of license and failing to obtain informed consent.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering and medical expenses.
Bryant is represented by attorney M. Suzanne Montero of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
Case no. 731-135.
