GRETNA – A local construction company is suing a steel fabricator for allegedly breaching contract to provide steel trusses for a roof in a school construction project.
Gibbs Construction LLC filed suit against H&H Steel Fabricators in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 2.
Gibbs Construction alleges that it entered into a contract to provide services to the Jefferson Parish School System’s Ames Montessori School. The plaintiff asserts that subsequent to the construction contract it entered into a contract with H&H Steel Fabricators to provide design and fabrication of roof trusses for the building. Gibbs Construction claims it made deposits to H&H Steel Fabricators in the amount of $143,079.05, but H&H only manufactured and delivered a portion of the trusses and Gibbs had to resort to contracting with other steel fabricators for the remainder of the job. The plaintiff alleges the additional contracts cost them $60,626.93 more.
The defendant is accused of breach of contract.
Damages in the amount of $363,761.63 are sought by the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
