GRETNA – A landlord is being sued by a tenant who fell in a bathroom within the apartment she was renting.

Vanessa Franklin filed suit against Dora Fentress in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 12.

Franklin asserts she was renting an apartment from Fentress located at 4321 Idaho in Kenner when she slipped on floor tiles in the bathroom that were improperly installed. The plaintiff alleges the fall resulted in severe personal injuries. Franklin claims Fentress had prior notice of the hazard before the incident occurred.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly inspect the area, failing to properly maintain and inspect premises, failing to warn of the unreasonably dangerous condition, failing to use reasonable and prudent care, failing to repair the tile on premises and violation of state law.

Damages in excess of $50,000 are sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life and loss of earning capacity.

Franklin is represented by attorney A.J. Rebennack of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.

Case no. 732-904.
