Couple sues engineering firm over home addition and renovations

Breach of contract

GRETNA – An engineering firm is being sued by a married couple for allegedly doing bad work on an addition and renovation to their home.

Kathleen and Lester P. Plaisance filed suit against Robert D. Lee, Robert D. Lee Consulting Engineers Inc., John E. Bruce and J.E. Bruce Desgin Consultants Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 12.

The Plaisances allege that the Robert D. Lee Consulting Engineers Inc. completed a renovation on their home located at 5253 Privateer Blvd. in Barataria on Jan. 12, 2009. In early 2013 the plaintiffs assert that they noticed deterioration and water damage. The Plaisances claim that Robert D. Lee Consulting Engineers Inc. failed to complete the work to specifications and free from defects and errors.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract, negligence and unfair trade practices.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for property damage, cost, expenses and attorney’s fees.

The Plaisances are represented by Regel L. Bisso of Metairie-based Bisso & Miller LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.

Case no. 732-891.
