GRETNA – A local rental property company is suing its insurer which allegedly did not provide funds to repair damages from Hurricane Isaac.
Bucktown Properties LLC filed suit against Seneca Specialty Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Nov. 13.
Bucktown Properties alleges that on Aug. 29, 2012 Hurricane Isaac made landfall and caused extensive damage to a property it owns at 1732 Orpheum St. in Metairie. The plaintiff asserts it sustained physical loss and damage to the premises as well as loss of use of the structure. Bucktown Properties claims that Seneca failed to properly assess the property and sent an assessment below policy deductible.
The defendant is accused of failing to initiate adequate and timely loss adjustment, failing to analyze and pay claims in good faith and violating state law.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for all losses covered under the insurance policy.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.
