Jefferson Parish judge allegedly injured in auto accident sues

GRETNA – A judge for the 24th Judicial District Court has filed a lawsuit in her judicial district over a car accident in which she claims she was injured.

June Berry Darensburg filed suit against NGM Insurance Company, Indoor Air Technologies Inc. and Rafael Rosario Jr. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 11.

Darensburg, who was first elected as judge to the 24th JDC in 2006, claims on Jan. 15 she was stopped at the intersection of Dolhonde St. and 11th St. in Gretna when a vehicle owned by Indoor Air Technologies Inc. and driven by Rafael Rosario Jr. collided with the rear of her vehicle. The plaintiff alleges she received injuries in the incident including to her trunk, spine, neck, right shoulder, arm, lower back and shooting pains in her buttock and leg.

The defendant is accused of failing to see what should have been seen, operating his vehicle in a careless and reckless manner, failing to keep his vehicle under control, following too closely, failure to yield and disregarding a stop sign.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, permanent disability, medical expenses, loss of income, loss of earning capacity, loss of enjoyment of life, property damage, towing, storage, depreciation, loss of use and rental.

Darensburg is represented by Mark P. Glago of the New Orleans-based Glago Law Firm LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
