GRETNA – A man who claims a home he inherited part of was fraudulently sold to new owners is suing.

Kenneth Lewis Mills filed suit against Randy Andrew Landry and Elizabeth Ann Parks in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 10.

Mills claims he inherited a home at 6709 Kawanee Ave. in Metairie formerly owned by his father Joseph Lewis Mills and step-mother Raylene Hall Mills, who are both now deceased. The plaintiff asserts that he is Kenneth Mills' only son from a previous marriage whereas Raylene Hall Mills had four children from a previous marriage. Kenneth Mills alleges that after his father died in an auto accident in 2002 he inherited one-half ownership of the home.

In 2013, after Raylene Hall Mills moved out of the home and died soon afterward, the other half of the interest in the home went to her children who requested the house be put up for sale. The children of Raylene Hall Mills agreed the home had a market value of $120,000, but shortly afterward Kenneth Mills alleges the property was transferred to one of their wives for only $8,000 without his knowledge.

Kenneth Mills asserts that the other inheritors of the property did not have the authority to sell the property and thus the sale was fraudulent.

The defendant is accused of fraud, breach of mandate and violation of state law.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for monetary loss due to fraud, recession of the sale, reinstatement as the home’s part owner and attorney’s fees.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
