GRETNA – The family of a man who collapsed after jumping on a bungee apparatus set up in a Slidell mall is suing over failed resuscitation efforts.
Sharon Mayeux, individually and on behalf of her minor son, filed suit against The Jump Zone Entertainment LLC, Jaclyn Halei Love, Morguard Corporation, Morguard Management Company Inc. and IPC International Corporation in the 24th Judicial District Court on Jan. 31.
Mayeux alleges that her husband Thomas Mayeux went to the North Shore Square Mall in Slidell on Feb. 2, 2013 and took part in a bungee jumping apparatus owned by The Jump Zone Entertainment. The plaintiff claims that immediately after he took part in the activity the plaintiff’s husband collapsed.
Mayeux asserts that after her husband collapsed EMS personnel were told he was suffering from a drug overdose and injected him with Narcan to counter the effects of drug intoxication.
The plaintiff alleges that her husband died as a result of ventricular arrhythmia and seizure.
The defendant is accused of wrongful death.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for loss of love and affection, loss of services, loss of income, medical expenses, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, distress and fear of dying.
Mayeux is represented by attorney Clarence F. Favret of New Orleans.
The case has been assigned to Division E Judge John J. Molaison Jr.
