Landlord sues former tenant for over $20K in property damage

Commercial lease agreement

GRETNA – A landlord is suing a former tenant claiming property damage and breaking a lease agreement.

Peter Tufaro, trustee of B&PP Trust, filed suit against Hasan Kaki, also known as Muwafak Hasan Kaki, Kaki and Son LLC, 250 S. Broad Inc. and Morales Brothers LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 7.

Tufaro alleges that on May 12, 2009 he leased a warehouse property located at 10 West 24th St. in Kenner to the defendants. The plaintiff asserts that on Oct. 31, 2013 the defendants left the premises and left behind extensive property damage that was determined by a construction company to be beyond normal wear and tear.

The defendant is accused of property damage.

Damages in the amount of $20,350 is sought by the plaintiffs.

Tufaro is represented by C. Richard Gerage of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.

Case no. 735-321.
