GRETNA – A seaman who claim she was injured while working aboard a vessel that struck another ship in Grand Isle is suing.
Cynthia Dace filed suit against Craft Solutions Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 10.
Dace asserts that she was working aboard the ship, the Miss Mona, owned by Craft Services on May 23, 2013 around Grand Isle when the ship stuck another vessel, the Mama Liz. The plaintiff alleges she received injuries to her neck, back ,body and mind due to the collision and negligence on behalf of Miss Mona’s captain.
The defendant is accused of failing to provide a safe and adequate place to work, failing to provide proper and adequate instruction and by allowing a unseaworthy condition to exist on the vessel.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental anguish, physical suffering, medical care, transportation to and from health providers, loss of earnings, impaired earning capacity, loss of enjoyment of life and feelings of economic insecurity.
Dace is represented by Dennis N. Thomson of New Orleans-based Morris Bart LLC.
The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
