Burlington Coat Factory sued by man allegedly injured in parking lot fall

GRETNA – A local clothing store is being sued by a man who claims he was severely injured in a fall in their parking lot.

Alvin Joseph Sr. filed suit against Burlington Coat Factory of Louisiana LLC and Lauricella Land Company LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 18.

Joseph claims on Feb. 15, 2013, he on his way toward the entry to the Burlington Coat Factory store when he tripped over a concrete parking stop and fell to the pavement. The plaintiff alleges he was injured in the incident and had to seek medical treatment.

The defendant is accused of failing to consider the safety of others, failing to properly maintain their property, not warning of the danger and not placing warning signs near the dangerous object.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for mental anguish, physical pain and suffering and medical expenses.

Joseph is represented by attorney Louis A. Georges of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
