GRETNA – A corporate retailer is being sued by a customer who claims she slipped in a puddle of vodka and fell to the floor injuring herself.
Stacey H. McDonald, and her husband Raymond, filed suit against Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Feb. 19.
McDonald alleges on Feb. 24, 2013, she was a customer at the Wal-Mart located at 5110 Jefferson Highway in Harvey when she slipped and fell on a liquid thought to be vodka that came from a broken bottle.
The plaintiff claims the incident resulted in severe and disabling injuries.
Wal-Mart is accused of presenting an unreasonable risk of harm, having constructive notice about the condition, failing to exercise reasonable care to keep store aisles and passageways clear, failing to make a reasonable effort to keep the premises free of hazards and failing to warn the plaintiff of an unreasonably dangerous condition.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, emotional distress, inconvenience and mental anguish.
McDonald is represented by attorney James B. Guest of Kenner.
The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
