Homeowner sues contractor over damages that occurred to home during drainage project

GRETNA – A construction company contracted by Jefferson Parish is being sued by a homeowner who claims her home was damaged over work done on a nearby drainage project.

Deborah L. Faust filed suit against Hard Rock Construction LLC, Companion Specialty Insurance Company and the Parish of Jefferson in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 9.

Faust asserts that on April 17, 2013 she felt her residence creaking and shifting as a result of a drainage project near her home located at 708 Avenue D in Marrero. The plaintiff claims that due to the drainage project her driveway cracked and crumbled.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain standards, failing to supervise, failing to inspect, failing to warn, negligent hiring, improper use of driveway and failing to use proper equipment.

Damages in an amount less than $50,000 is sought by Faust.

Faust is representing herself pro se.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
