Man claims disability due to injuries in alleged fall at Casey Jones Supermarket

GRETNA – A local supermarket is being sued by a man who claims he was severely injured in a slip and fall on its premises.

Isaac Debouse filed suit against Casey Jones Supermarket Inc. and Travelers Property Casualty Company of America in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 10.

Debouse alleges he was at Casey Jones Supermarket located at 21 Westside Shopping Center in Gretna when he slipped in a pool of water and fell to the floor. The plaintiff asserts that he was severely injured in the fall and subsequently had to undergo surgery.

The defendant is accused of failing to properly maintain the premises, failing to properly clean the premises, failing to see what should have been seen, failing to do what should have been done, failing to provide a safe shopping environment, failing to warn customers against hazards, failing to properly supervise staff and failing to implement policies and procedures.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for bodily disability, loss of use of parts of her body, impairment of psychological functioning, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses and disability from engaging in recreation.

Debouse is represented by attorney Mark A. Vicknair of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
