GRETNA – A man who claims he was injured after falling out of his seat during an abrupt stop made by a casino shuttle bus made is suing .

Louis Cook III filed suit against Boyd Gaming Corporation, Treasure Chest Casino LLC, the City of Kenner and their insurers in the 24th Judicial District Court on April 21.

Cook alleges that on April 23, 2013 he was riding a shuttle bus en route to the Treasure Chest Casino when the bus made a sudden stop and he was thrown forward into a guardrail causing him to strike his hand and body. The plaintiff asserts the incident happened so quickly he could not brace himself and he was transported to a local emergency room for treatment for his injuries. Cook asserts the City of Kenner is also liable for his injuries because they occurred in the casino’s parking lot, which the city owns.

The defendant is accused of failing to keep a proper lookout, driving in an unsafe manner, failing to be attentive, applying brakes too abruptly and forcefully, failing to provide a safe mode of travel and failing to act in a prudent and cautious manner.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, humiliation, aggravation, psychological and emotional distress, physical disability, disfiguration, loss of enjoyment of life and replacement costs for cell phone.

Cook is represented by attorney Robert R. Faucheux Jr. of LaPlace.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
