GRETNA – A woman who claims she was injured when a dog escaped a yard and bit her is suing the animal’s owner.
Asia Grayson filed suit against Yvette Sumler in the 24th Judicial District Court on May 13.
Grayson asserts she was walking on the sidewalk in front of a house owned by Sumler located at 302 Furman Drive in Kenner on May 19 when a dog came through an open gate on the property and bit her.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain control over the dog, failing to prevent the dog from leaving the yard and attacking the plaintiff and failing to warn the plaintiff of the danger.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish and medical expenses.
Grayson is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Robert T. Hughes.
The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.
Case no. 738-390.
