GRETNA – An ambulance company is being sued after one of its ambulances allegedly collided with a semi-truck, injuring the driver.
Freddie Alexander filed suit against Markel Insurance Company and A-MMED Ambulance Inc., doing business as/and also known as A-Med Ambulance Service, and Tyler Gros in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 16.
Alexander claims he was driving a 2012 International semi-truck on July 7, 2013 when he was at the intersection of Clearview Parkway and Park Drive in Metairie when an ambulance owned by A-MMED Ambulance Inc. and driven by Gros ran into his vehicle. The plaintiff alleges the collision resulted in him sustaining severe injuries.
The defendant is accused of failing to see what should have been seen, failing to take what precautions should have been taken, being inattentive and distracted, driving at an excessive rate of speed, striking another vehicle, failing to exercise due care and failing to stop before striking the vehicle.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain, anxiety, loss and impairment of enjoyment of life and lifestyle, physical impairment, disability, medical expenses, impairment of earnings, loss of consortium, loss of society and loss of use of vehicle.
