GRETNA – A homeowner is suing multiple parties over renovations to correct damage done by Hurricane Katrina.
Irma Dorsey filed suit against Scottsdale Insurance Company, JBC Services LLC, Ramm Plumbing LLC, Gulf States and Edd’s AC & Heating LLC and Purvis Contracting Group LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 23.
Dorsey claims that the defendants worked on her home located at 10900 Kinniel Road in New Orleans to correct damages the home sustained in Hurricane Katrina and that the main contract was for $78,634.88 with Purvis Contracting Group. The plaintiff asserts she made five payments from Oct. 26, 2007 to April 14, 2008 to pay off the contract and Purvis discontinued work saying the work it had been contracted for had been completed and that it should receive an additional $35,779.45. However, Dorsey alleges not all work had been completed. Purvis allegedly later filed for bankruptcy.
The defendant is accused of failing to comply with state law, failing to provide a detailed description of the work to be done and materials used, failing to provide a total amount agreed to be paid for work, allowing a state contractor license to be revoked during rehabilitation and failing to properly procure and supervise subcontractors.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought by the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Division I Judge Nancy A. Miller.
