GRETNA – A local Wal-Mart and a maintenance company are being sued by a woman who claims she was injured after being struck by an automatic door.

Chantrell Rock filed suit against Stanley Access Technologies and Wal-Mart Louisiana LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on June 19.

Rock alleges she was exiting the Wal-Mart located at 5110 Jefferson Highway in Harahan after shopping and as she was pulling a cart behind her the automatic door at the store’s exit closed on her, striking her in the right side. The plaintiff asserts that the manager told her after the incident that the door had been having problems and that the day before it had been reported to Stanley Access Technologies and a technician was supposed to come and fix it, but never showed. Rock contends that she received personal injuries due to the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to secure an automatic door it knew to being problematic and not following through with needed repairs.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering and mental anguish.

Rock is represented by attorney James Maher III of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division N Judge Stephen D. Enright Jr.

Case no. 739-580.
