Harrah's Casino sued over slip on mimosa spill

NEW ORLEANS – A couple is claiming that the negligent acts of Harrah's Casino resulted in injury to the husband, Richard Haskins.

He and wife Amy filed suit against Jazz Casino Company LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court.

The suit claims that on Oct. 20, 2013 at the Harrah's Casino located at 228 Poydras Street in New Orleans, the plaintiffs claim that Haskins slipped and fell on a slick substance while waiting to be seated at the buffet. The plaintiff asserts the liquid may have been mimosa drinks spilled by a waitress.

Harrah's is alleged to have security surveillance video that could document the events in their entirety. The plaintiffs contend that Harrah's has resisted sharing the tape despite written request.

According to the suit, Richard Haskins sustained injuries to his left knee and lower leg including the hip area as a result of the incident.

The defendant is accused of negligent acts of omission and carelessness.

The plaintiffs seek damages for physical pain and emotional anguish, medical care and treatment, and disability.

The Haskins are represented by Vincent J. Glorioso III of The Glorioso Law Firm.

The case has been assigned to District J Judge Paula A. Brown.
