NEW ORLEANS – A policy holder claims he was not adequately compensated for damages caused by Hurricane Isaac.

Michael Edwards filed suit against Louisiana Citizens Property Insurance Corporation in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on June 12.

The plaintiff claims that his property suffered significant damage during Hurricane Isaac that was recoverable under his insurance policy with the defendant.

The defendant is accused of failing to pay for all damages due under the plaintiff’s policy, failing to bring in qualified professionals to timely and properly assess the damages, overly depreciating the value of the property, refusing to explain or provide the insured with a copy of the depreciation schedule used to calculate depreciation and failing to pay the claim in good faith within a reasonable period of time.

The plaintiff is seeking an unknown amount in damages for full value of property damage to the property, loss of use, debris clean up and removal, business interruption, loss of business income, mental anguish, lost rents and attorney fees.
