Chipotle sued by woman who claims she was injured in fall in parking lot

GRETNA – A fast food restaurant is being sued by a customer who claims she was injured in a fall in its parking lot.

Lisa Taylor filed suit against Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc., Lauricella Land Company LLC, Elmwood Village Center LLC, Lauricella  & Associates Inc., Elmwood Retail Properties LLC and Travelers Insurance in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 15.

Taylor claims that on July 16, 2013 she was a guest at the Chipotle located at 1208 Clearview Parkway in Harahan when she fell in a large crevice filled with tar and rocks in the parking lot. The plaintiff alleges she hit the ground in the fall and was injured.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises to keep it free of dangerous and hazardous conditions, failing to exercise reasonable care to keep the property in a safe condition, failing to make adequate inspections and failing to make adequate maintenance.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for personal injuries, medical expenses, mental pain and suffering, lost wages, loss of enjoyment of life, mental anguish, inconvenience and loss of society.

Taylor is represented by David I. Courcell of the Metairie-based Law Office of David I. Courcelle LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
