Rouse’s sued by woman who claims she was injured after slipping in grease

GRETNA – A local grocery store is being sued by a customer who claims she was injured after slipping on a grease spot and falling to the ground.

Jonel Hieber filed suit against Rouse’s Enterprises LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 16.

Hieber claims she was shopping at the Rouse’s located at 2900 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie when she slipped and fell on a grease spot located next to the store’s buffet. The plaintiff alleges she was severely injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to discover a dangerous condition, failing to correct a dangerous condition, failing to maintain the premises in a safe condition, disregarding the safety of others and failing to keep equipment in a proper state of repair.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for bodily injuries, pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, permanent disability and compensatory damages.

Hieber is represented by attorney Julie-Ann A. Duhe’ Keating of Metairie.

The case has been assigned to Division M Judge Henry G. Sullivan Jr.
