Event hall sued for woman’s alleged injury in fall

GRETNA – An events hall is being sued by a woman who alleges she was injured in a fall on its premises.

Toni Armstrong filed suit against Z’s Elegant Events LLC, Unforgettable Events Hall LLC, The Event Room and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 22.

Armstrong claims  she was a guest at a party being held at Z’s Elegant Events hall located at 1708 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey when she fell due to unreasonably dangerous grounds. The plaintiff alleges she received severe and disabling injuries to her entire body in the incident.

The defendant is accused of physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, emotional distress, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, loss of income and loss of earning capacity.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for failing to maintain a reasonably safe place for tenants and visitors, failing to take necessary measures to protect the safety of tenants and visitors, failing to repair a hazard, failing to properly maintain the area, failing to take steps to avoid the incident and failing to want visitors.

Armstrong is represented by attorney Roderick Alvendia of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division F Judge Michael P. Mentz.
