T.G.I. Friday’s restaurant sued for woman’s alleged injuries in fall at niece’s birthday

GRETNA – A woman who claims she was injured after slipping and falling at her niece’s birthday party is suing.

Penny Brumfield filed suit against Southeast Restaurant Development LLC and Ohio Security Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 28.

The plaintiff asserts that she was attending her niece’s birthday party at the T.G.I. Friday’s located at 3330 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie when she had just finished dinner and was preparing to return to the table to eat cake when she fell in a puddle of water in the hallway and fell to the floor. Brumfield contends that she was injured in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to warn of a dangerous condition, failing to properly inspect and maintain the area, failing to warn of inherent dangers, failing to do what was necessary to keep the area safe, failing to provide a safe area for its employees and allowing a hazardous condition to exist.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental pain and anguish, disability, disfigurement, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of wages and loss of earning capacity.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
