Woman claims disability after slip and fall at health clinic

GRETNA – A health clinic is being sued by a woman who claims she is disabled after slipping in a puddle of liquid that dripped out of a light fixture and onto the floor.

Donielle Brown filed suit against Jefferson Community Health Care Centers Inc. and their insurer in the 24th Judicial District Court on July 30.

Brown claims she was a patron at Jefferson Community Health Care Center on July 31 when she suddenly slipped and fell in a puddle that emanated from a drip from a light fixture. The plaintiff alleges she suffered severe injuries in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to provide a safe environment, failing warn of unsafe conditions and failing to properly maintain the premises.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, mental pain and suffering, physical pain and suffering, disability and loss of use.

Brown is represented by attorney Tim L. Fields of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division D Judge Scott U. Schlegel.

Case no. 740-830.
