The Men’s Wearhouse sued by employee claiming injury after fellow employee pulled seat out from under him at awards ceremony

GRETNA – A man who claims he was severely injured in a fall when a fellow employee pulled a chair out from under him at an employer-sponsored awards ceremony is suing.

Loi Nguyen filed suit against The Men’s Wearhouse and an unknown employee in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 8.

Nguyen asserts within the course and scope of his employment he attended an employee awards ceremony sponsored by The Men’s Wearhouse at a public park in Slidell on Aug. 9, 2013. The plaintiff claims he left his seat and was returning to sit in it when an unknown man pulled the chair out from under him and he fell, striking his head on the back of a chair and other parts of his body on the ground. Nguyen alleges sustained several personal injuries in the incident.

The defendant is accused of negligence.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, lost wages, personal injuries, grief, pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses, loss of future income earning capacity, residual disability and loss of enjoyment of life.

Nguyen is represented by Baton Rouge-based attorney John B. Lambremont.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
