GRETNA – A construction company is suing a couple it claims did not properly pay for work completed on their property.

Llopis Enterprises LLC filed suit against James and Roshanda Champagne in the 24th Judicial District Court on Aug. 8.

Llopis Enterprises contends that in January 2013 the Champagnes agreed to pay $57,475 for construction work on their home.  The plaintiff asserts that the defendants failed to secure financing for the work in a timely fashion and took an excessive amount of time planning out the details in renovating their kitchen and other areas of the home. The contractor also alleges that when the defendants tendered a termination they claimed that Llopis Enterprises was the party guilty for the delay. In addition, the plaintiff claims the Champagnes noted in a letter they had paid the amount due to in full. But the plaintiff claims it was not paid and in fact completed the majority of the work with its own funds.

The defendant is accused of breach of contract.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for reasonable damages and attorney fees.

Llopis Enterprises is represented by Robert E. Tarcza of New Orleans-based Tarcza & Associates LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.

Case no. 741-113.
