NEW ORLEANS– A non-employed worker is suing after allegedly suffering severe injuries from a falling metal chair at the Joy Theater.

Katlyn R. Jones filed suit against Joy Theater LLC, Joy Theater Master Tenant LLC and Joy Theater New Orleans LLC in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 13.

Jones alleges that on May 8, she was assisting the Joy Theater staff in unloading chairs, when without warning, the frame above her failed, collapsing a theater chair on her head. As a result, Jones was allegedly sent to the nearest hospital via ambulance after suffering severe injuries.

The defendants are accused of failing to sustain a safe area for employees, quickly help plaintiff in need, warn workers of hazardous conditions as well as allowing an unsafe condition to exist.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages for pain and suffering, disabilities, loss of enjoyment, deterioration of bodily tissues and cells, medical expenses and closed head wounds.

The plaintiff is represented by Ron A. Austin of Ron Austin & Associates LLC.

The case has been assigned to Div. C Judge Sidney H. Cates IV.
