After revolving door mishap, woman sues Marriott for negligence

Marriott new orleans

NEW ORLEANS – A Jefferson Parish woman is suing Marriott for its alleged role in her fall while exiting a location in downtown New Orleans.

Irene Klinger filed suit against Marriott Hotel Services in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Aug. 8.

Klinger asserts that on Oct. 23, 2013, she was going through a revolving door at the Marriott Hotel on Canal Street when she was caused to fall. The plaintiff alleges that she sustained injuries to her head, right side, back, and body as a result of the incident.

Klinger alleges that she has suffered from cerebral concussion, contusion to the right side of her body, contusion and abrasion of the jaw and back strain because of the event.

The defendant is accused of negligence by failing to properly adjust the components and sensory inputs of the revolving door, allowing the door to close at a fast pace, failing to have an employee stationed by the door at all times and allowing an unsafe door to remain on the Marriott premises.

The plaintiff seeks an unknown amount in damages for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, emotional stress and strain and loss of enjoyment of life.

Irene Klinger is represented by attorney Darleen M. Jacobs.

The case has been assigned to District I Judge Piper D. Griffin.

Case no. 2014-07816.
