METAIRIE – Lawyers in Libraries, a program that links lawyers with patrons who need legal advice, will occur at four Jefferson Parish Libraries on on Thursday, Oct. 23.
During each presentation, volunteer lawyers will provide information about how to access civil legal resources and will be available for questions and answers and brief consultations with attendees.
Each presentation is free of charge and is open to the public. Registration is not required. The goal of the day is to provide local citizens with access to legal advice and information and to demonstrate how legal access is critical to a community's well-being.
Patrons who seek out legal advice in this year’s Lawyers in Libraries program will have an opportunity to meet with a lawyer based in their community and receive information about free resources, low-cost legal assistance and legal referrals. In addition, some attendees will have the opportunity for a brief private consultation with an attorney about personal legal matters.
The event is sponsored by the Louisiana State Bar Association.
Lawyer in Libraries will provide free legal assistance at the following libraries:
An attorney to be announced will be on hand at Old Metairie Library located at 2350 Metairie Road in Metairie from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23.
Attorney Martha J. Maher will be at East Bank Regional Library located at 4747 West Napoleon Ave. in Metairie from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23.
Jeremy S. Epstein, Esq., of the Epstein Law Firm LLC, will be available to speak to patrons at the Jane O’Brien Chatelain West Bank Regional Library located at 2751 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23.
Robert A. Kutcher, of Chopin, Wagar, Richard & Kutcher LLP, will appear at Lakeshore Library located at 1000 West Esplanade Ave. in Metairie from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23.
