Save-A-Lot customer sues for alleged disability after slipping and falling over bottle of syrup

NEW ORLEANS – A Save-A-Lot patron is suing after allegedly slipping over a bottle of syrup causing her to sustain painful personal injuries.

Octavia Mason filed suit against Supervalu Inc., Save-A-Lot Grocery Store and their insuer in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept.. 26.

Mason alleges that on Sept. 29, 2013, she was shopping in the Save-A-Lot Grocery Store located at 3303 South Carrolton Ave. in New Orleans, where unexpectedly, she slipped and fell on a bottle of syrup, plummeting to the ground. The plaintiff asserts she sustained rigorous injuries to her body and mind in the fall.

The defendants are accused of failing to provide a secure work environment for guests, failing to warn of a hazardous condition and failing to fix deteriorating property.

The plaintiff is seeking an unspecified amount in damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, disabilities and loss of enjoyment of life.

Attorney Tim L. Fields represents the plaintiff.

The case has been assigned to Div. J Judge Paula A. Brown.
