GRETNA – A local casino is being sued by a woman who claims she was permanently disabled after falling and hitting her head on its premises.
Gloria Richardson filed suit against John Doe; Louisiana-I Gaming, a Louisiana Partnership in Commendam; Boomtown Belle Casino New Orleans; Pinnacle Entertainment Inc. of Delaware and Service Companies Inc. in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 10.
Richardson claims she was at Boomtown Belle Casino New Orleans on Dec. 28, 2013 when she fell and hit her head, which required staples to close the wound. The plaintiff alleges she received severe and disabling injuries in the incident.
The defendant is accused of failing to keep the premises in a safe condition, failing to remedy a safe condition, failing to instruct employees on proper maintenance of the facility, failing to warn patrons of an unsafe condition and knowing of a hazardous condition.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, medical expenses, rental expenses, loss of earrings, loss of earning capacity and permanent disability to the body.

The case has been assigned to Division J Judge Stephen C. Grefer.
