Ochsner sued by woman claiming back and neck injuries from fall

Ochsner

GRETNA – A local hospital is being sued by a patient who claims she injured her back and neck after falling in its hallway when she slipped in water.

Elaine Scott filed suit against Ochsner Clinic Foundation in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 17.

Scott alleges she was walking in the hallway at the Ochsner hospital located at 1514 Jefferson Highway in Jefferson when she slipped and fell in water. The plaintiff contends there were no wet floor signs or other markings in the area where she fell. Scott asserts she injured her back and neck in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to post wet floor signs, failing to maintain the hospital in a safe and reasonable condition, failing to clean water from the hallway and failing to inspect the hallway.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering and loss of enjoyment of life.

Scott is represented by Timothy K. Lamy of New Orleans-based Barker, Boudreaux, Lamy & Foley.

The case has been assigned to Division A Judge Raymond S. Steib Jr.

Case no. 742-531.
