GRETNA – A moving company and commercial building owner are being sued by a woman who claims she received disabling injuries because of boards placed in an entryway.
Wanda Simlin filed suit against Canal Indemnity Company, P.L. Vogel Co. LLC, United Fire and Casualty Company, The Office Planning Group Incorporated and Severn Place Associates, a Partnership in Commendam in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 18.
Simlin claims that on Sept. 20, 2013 she was walking into the rear entrance of a building located at 2450 Severn Ave. in Metairie that employees of P.L. Vogel were moving furniture into when she tripped on overlapped boards placed in the entryway. The plaintiff alleges that she received permanent and disabling injuries to her neck, back, knees, calves and left hip that have required medical treatment.
The defendants are accused of permitting an unsafe environment, failing to prevent accidents and injuries, neglecting to correct hazards, maintaining a trip hazard and failing to warn of a trip hazard.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of earnings and permanent disability.

The case has been assigned to Division B Judge Cornelius E. Regan.
