NEW ORLEANS – A woman claims she is owed up to $3 million for her former ownership in US Agencies, an insurance company her ex-husband sold for millions of dollars.
Cynthia Wegmann filed suit against Gregory W. Tramontin in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sept. 18.
Wegmann states that on March 9, 1988, a judgment of divorce was executed between her and her ex-husband, Tramontin. Her current lawsuit stems from property issues in 2008, in which the plaintiff claims she is owed approximately $3 million. The petitioner insists she originally sold her claim of the insurance company, US Agencies, to her ex-husband for only $25,000, after which he proceeded to sell the company for millions of dollars.
On April 18, 2010, the parties entered into a verbal agreement in which Wegmann would support Tramontin in his pending divorce litigation. After which, the defendant allegedly agreed to transfer $3 million to $5 million to the ieplaintiff for her ownership of the company. The plaintiff alleges the money was going to be used to pay off their children’s school loans and establish trust funds. However, the first portion of the sum would only be transferred after the petitioner sold her house.
The defendant allegedly agreed to compensate the plaintiff for a new home and provide the second portion of the arranged sum on a strict as needed basis. However, despite the petitioner’s alleged completion of the contract, the defendant has allegedly failed to provide the petitioner with the contracted money.
