GRETNA – A dental assistant is suing her former employer after allegedly being subjected to sexual harassment.

Krystal Harris filed suit against Marcus Jackson DDS and Affordable Dentures in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 1.

Harris contends that she was employed as a dental assistant by Jackson at Affordable Dentures located at 8847 Veterans Blvd. in Metairie on Oct. 10, 2011. The plaintiff asserts that shortly after her employment with the defendants began, Jackson allegedly began making unwelcome sexual advances towards her and even after she informed she was not interested in him he continued to make comments, requests and advances towards her. Harris claims that despite her objections Jackson continued to try and coerce her to have sexual intercourse with him and she eventually had to resign.

The defendant is accused of intentional infliction of emotional distress, sexual harassment and discrimination in violation of state law.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for severe mental distress, emotional distress, embarrassment, loss of employment, medicine, hospitalization, medical care, attendant and support care, loss of wages, loss of wage earning capacity, pain and suffering and residual disabilities.

Harris is represented by attorney Michael D. Riley of New Orleans.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.

Case no. 742-980.
