GRETNA – A chain restaurant is being sued by a woman who claims she received disabling injuries in a fall on its premises.
Joy Buwe filed suit against Brinker Louisiana Inc., Chili’s Grill and Bar, Brinker International Inc., Jareen Schmidt Revocable Trust, Troy Monconduit and Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in the 24th Judicial District Court on Oct. 24.
Buwe claims she was a guest at the Chili’s located at 1741 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey and was approaching the building’s entrance when she tripped on broken concrete and fell to the pavement. The plaintiff alleges she was severely injured in the incident for which she received permanent scarring and disabling bodily injuries.
The defendant is accused of failing to maintain the premises, creating an unsafe condition, maintaining a dangerous condition, permitting an unsafe condition, failing to warn customers, failing to properly inspect and maintain the area, creating an unreasonable danger, failing to place a warning sign, failing to provide a hazard free environment, failing to implement reasonable measures, failing to exercise reasonable care and failing to properly train and supervise employees.
An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, disability, scarring, disfigurement, medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of services and loss of society.
