Tobacco store sues for $45K in allegedly misappropriated funds, goods

GRETNA – A tobacco store and its owner are suing a man they claim stole several thousands of dollars worth of cash and products.

Abdel Mousa and Tobacco City Inc. filed suit against Amer Zughayer in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 1.

Mousa and Tobacco City Inc. allege that on March 2, 2014 Zughayer wrote a check for $18,286.38 for tobacco purchase, but that he actually only purchased $8,286.38 worth of tobacco products for the store and took the remaining $10,000 for himself. The plaintiffs further claim that Zughayer took $8,000 in cash from the Tobacco City located at 2630 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey and that he took $19,126.93 in tobacco products and gave them to another store or party for sale.

The defendant is accused of misappropriation of funds and products.

Damages in the amount of $45,126.93 is sought by the plaintiff.

Mousa and Tobacco City Inc. is represented by Theodore W. Nass of the Gretna-based Law Office of Nass, Tiemann & Nass.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
