NEW ORLEANS – A local trucking company is suing a Florida-based demolition firm for allegedly reneging on its promise to use the company’s services in work on an abandoned HANO housing project.
Emerge Solution LLC filed suit against Cross Environmental Service Inc. in the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Nov. 3, 2014.
Emerge Solution LLC claims that in the course of finalizing a bid to the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) to demolish and remediate Press Park the defendant reached out and solicited the services of the plaintiff. Prior to the awarding of the bid, the plaintiff allegedly reached an agreement with the defendant to perform "trucking services" in the amount of $43,000 if its bid was selected by HANO. The defendant was awarded the contract, following which it allegedly retained another firm to perform the necessary services and failed to notify the plaintiff of what had transpired.
The defendant is accused of assuring the plaintiff of the labor as a subcontractor and the plaintiff claims that due to these assurances it did not pursue other business ventures.
The plaintiff seeks $43,000 in damages.
The plaintiff is represented by New Orleans-based attorney Ronald L. Wilson.
This case has been assigned to Division M Judge Paulette R Irons.
Case no. 2014-10644.
