GRETNA – A local fast food restaurant is being sued by a customer who claims he is permanently disabled after slipping and falling in a puddle of water on its  premises.

Juan Jackson filed suit against Wendy’s International in the 24th Judicial District Court on Dec. 19.

Jackson alleges that he was a patron a the Wendy’s located at 2500 Manhattan Blvd. in Harvey on May 18, 2014  when he slipped and fell in a water puddle on the floor. The plaintiff contends he has received permanently disabling injuries in the incident.

The defendant is accused of failing to maintain a reasonably safe place for patrons, failing to take necessary precautions to protect patrons, failing to maintain and inspect the premises, failing to warn patrons of danger, failing to properly hire and train employees and failing to take steps to avoid the incident.

An unspecified amount in damages is sought for physical pain and suffering, mental pain and suffering, medical expenses, loss of earnings, permanent disability, loss of consortium, loss of enjoyment of life, penalties and attorney’s fees.

Jackson is represented by Edward J. Womac Jr. of New Orleans-based Edward J. Womac Jr. & Associates LLC.

The case has been assigned to Division C Judge June Berry Darensburg.
